We also want to welcome back John Njoroge and David Tuwei who also recently arrived from Kenya this week.

We had two 4th place finishers today! John Njoroge finished in 4th place with a time of 2:12:52. It was a close race with Christopher Kipyego winning with a time of 2:12:15, followed by Teklu Deneke with a time of 2:12:17.

I had two runners make appearance in the 2011 Mercedes Marathon in Birmingham, AL. David Tuwei, who has been an asset to the club since the beginning, ran the full marathon and had a great start to his season finishing in first place with a time of 2:19:42.

Ann Kingori also had a great finish, 2nd place, with a time of 1:18:01. She ran the half marathon. She unfortunately finished pulled a hamstring and has been working on recovering for her future races.

January 31, 2011

Ann Kingori ran the ING Miami Half Marathon finishing in 3rd place with a time of 1:17:46. This was her first appearance running for Duma Club. I am pleased to welcome her as part of the club and I am excited to have her running ability in our club.

I am going to be doing things a little different this year with high expectations that this will create a solid foundation for the club. I am hoping the changes will help us have the flexibility and option to expand over the next two years.

I am going to be working with a select number of runners this year. Working and helping finance them to become the best of the best. I will still be searching for other talent and help those when and where I am able to.

April 21, 2010

My wife and I welcomed a healthy baby boy, Baraka Kiprotich. He was born 21 1/4inches and was 7lbs 12 oz.

Sorry for the silence! We have been busy arranging and working on contracts and other issues the last few months trying to get everything in order for this racing season. Here in, Minnesota, the racing season has begun for road races and soon marathons. We have numerous races coming up. Some are back to back!

We recently had Felix Moninda Marube join the Duma Runners Club and is now with us and appeared in his first race representing the club. Moninda raced in St. Cloud in the Earth Day Half Marathon where he placed third with a time of 1:06:51. Newcomer to the Duma Club as well, Grace Wanjiru Kimani who arrived to the states on Thursday April 15, 2010, placed second in the females with a time of 1:22:28. We also want to recognize Richard Kandie who placed second behind Matthew Chesang with a time of 1:06:17.

It was a respectable start to the season for all athletes!

February 28, 2010

William had a meeting on February 18 with Athletic Kenya (AK) along with other Agents who represent Kenyan Athletes. The meeting went very well and he is hoping that there will be some changes coming this next year. William was also able to meet individual with three different officals to voice some concerns regarding AK and some suggestions to help improve the relationship between the athletes, coaches and AK.

There haven't been too many races this month. Geoffrey Kiprotich and Richard Kandie were out west in Denver and then spent a little time in El Paso training, due the conditions here. They are competing in the Albany Snickers Marathon on March 6, 2010 in Albany, GA.

January 11, 2010

William received news from St. Jude Children's Marathon, the overturned their decision and Kimosop is now the 1st place male runner, with a time of 2:20:19. In a statement, the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend Race Committee conferred with race course monitors, pace vehicle personnel and others who were present  in the area of the course deviation and found that Edward Kimosop was not one of the runners who deviated from the true course.

January 9, 2010

Richard Kandie and James Boitt were in Mississippi to run the 2010 Mississippi Blues Marathon. We would like to congratulate James (John) Boitt for finishing third with a time of 2:21:08. We also want to wish Boitt a safe journey back to Kenya. He will be departing later this week. Richard Kandie finished eighth with a time of 2:38:14. Kandie suffered from a calf muscle injury.

December 15, 2009

The Duma Club was advised that the top 4 runners in the St. Jude Children's Marathon were disqualified due to deviating from the course. The top 3 runners are to received "compensation" their orginal rewards for 1, 2 & 3 palces. Along with runners 5, 6 & 7 place now are 1, 2 & 3rd. William is going to file a petition, because after talking at length with Edward Kimosop, Kimosop believes he didn't deviate from the course. He was not running in the top 3 group when they followed the wrong markers.

October 2009

David Tuwei finished second behind Simon Sawe at the 2009 IMT Des Moines Marathon. We will be added there times, once it is officially posted. We were hoping to have the course record broken today by Tuwei or Kimosop, but that was not the case. Sawe and Tuwei where stopped near the finish line, with several other half marathon runners due to a train crossing. This evened out the playing field and created a bigger battle for first. However, in the end the winners was Sawe (2003), who currently holds the course record with David Chepkowny (2007) of 2:22:57.

Congratulations to JOHN NJOROGE who finished 3rd at the 28th Annual Twin Cities Marathon, today, October 4, 2009. Njoroge was in the lead the last few miles, until about mile 25, when he was passed. Njoroge was able to hang onto 3rd place with ease and finished with a time of 2:13:25. Unfortunately David Tuwei dropped out between mile 20 and 21 due to excessive pain around his knee. He seems to be recovering well, but we will know more in the next week. Stehpen Luruo, who was a favorite to win, dropped out at mile 7 due to a calf injury.
