Duma Runners Club

Congratulation to David Tuwei for finishing 3rd in Duluth at Grandma's 33rd Annual Marathon. His offical time is 2:19:49.

Also on a special note we want to say GOOD LUCK to Richard Kandie who qualified to run in the Kenya National Championships for the 5,000M event. Kandie qualified with a time of 13:49. Again, congratulation and good luck Richard!

This year we have had some issue getting visa for our runners in Kenya and are waiting approval for many of the runners. We hope that by the end of this month we will have an approval so we are able to bring some runners back from last year and new runners this year to run various road races across the U.S. We also want to say thank you for your patience to all the runners who have had to wait.

On June 13 our runners ran a 5K in Bloomington, Back in Shape 5K. David Tuwei finished in third place with a time of 14:17 and John Njoroge finished in fifth place with a time of 14:30

On June 6, William took the runners to Kansas City for the Hospital Hill Half Marathon. This course had a lot of hills and there was tough competition. Njoroge finished just out of the top ten with a time of 68 flat. Kiprotich finished right behind him at 68:03 and Kendagor finished with a time of 69:49.

Congratulations John Njoroge for finishing first at the Dam to Dam 20K in Des Moines, Iowa. Njoroge finished with a time of 62:10. Respectfully Kiprotich finished at 63:13 and Kendagor at 66:15.

We would like to apologize for the delay in getting our website information up to date. We recently experienced the loss of our first born son only hours after his birth. Timothy Jabari Kibet Chumba was loved by so many in his short life. It is amazing. Thank you to everyone who has sent there sympathy, thoughts are prayers. Our family greatly appreciates it!

During our time of loss, William's cousin, Titus and his wife Mary, were able to take the runners down to Green Bay for the Green Bay Cellcom Marathon on May 18, 2009. Congratulations to Geoffrey Kiprotich won first place in the full marathon with a time of 2:20:06 and with a time of 1:05:46 John Njoroge won first in the half marathon.

In Lincoln, Nebraska we had two runners who competed in the half marathon and were able to place first and second. John Njoroge placed second after leading majority of the race, but his teammate and fellow Kenyan Geoffrey Kiprotich was able to find a kick and edge out Njoroge.

Jacob Kendagor was running the full marathon, but due to a problem with the insole of his running flats which irritated his foot caused a blister. He had to drop out around the half way point. All signs point to a quick recovery as he plans on running in Fargo North Dakota this Saturday.

Our runners traveled up to St. Cloud State University for the Earth Day Half Marathon (4-18-09). They did very well as a team today despite the cool and windy morning they had.

Geoffrey Kiprotich, who arrived 4-17-09, finished the half marathon in first place with a time of 1:07:35. Great job! Second place goes to John Njoroge 1:08:20 and Jacob Kendagor held of for third place with a time of 1:13:14. Way to go guys!
